The welcome addition to public access to and clean-up of the Mystic River waterfront afforded by this project is certainly something to celebrate, even if it does take longer than some expected. As you note, part of the delay was the overlooked historic property on the site: “A house on the property was simply going to be razed, but then the State Historic Preservation Office judged it to be historic and ordered its preservation.” In fact, the house in question was already part of the Rossie Mill National Register District, established in 2007. The application for this educational designation was compiled by interested neighbors and submitted to the State Historic Preservation Office for approval and then forwarded by them with recommendation to the National Register of Historic Places that officially estab ....

Operated by the Coastal Gourmet Group, which owns four Mystic Markets in Connecticut, the Foxwoods location will offer sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, coffee and gourmet meals, all made in house with locally sourced ingredients. Dishes will include Spicy Lo Mein Noodles, Kale, Mango and Quinoa Salad, Grilled Salmon Ratatouille, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Smoked Brisket. Published April 04. 2021 7:46PM Mystic Mystic Seaport Museum has announced it will present its 2021 America and the Sea Award to Terry Hutchinson, who most recently was the skipper, executive director, and tactician for the New York Yacht Club s American Magic campaign for the 36th America’s Cup. The annual award recognizes individuals and organizations whose extraordinary achievements in the world of maritime exploration, competition, scholarship, and design best exemplify the American character. The museum will present Hutchinson with the award on Sept. 14 at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. The event is a major fundraiser for the museum. Hutchinson has 16 World Championship wins, been involved in five America s Cup campaigns and was twice named the Rolex Yachtsman of the Year. ....
Published April 04. 2021 5:16PM Stonington The Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity recognized Lisa Konicki, the president of the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce last week with its SHero Award for her extensive efforts to assist the struggling business community during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Rep. Greg Howard, R-Stonington, had nominated Konicki, who also heads the Ocean Community Chamber Foundation, for the award.
