Shifting the Narrative: Two women entrepreneurs forge partnership on Jacksonville s Westside using food, water, wellness
Business owners Savita Jones and Da-Vi Jinda Em are embracing Jacksonville s Westside with healthy resources and progressive opportunities. Author: Nichelle Cobb Updated: 6:47 PM EDT July 14, 2021
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Sitting less than a mile apart on Edgewood Avenue, two local businesses are teaming up to impact Jacksonville s Westside through healthy eating, diversity and entrepreneurship.
Savita Jones, 37, and Da-Vi Jinda Em, 29, are entrepreneurs with businesses in the Murray Hill community.
Just a little further down is Jinda Em s restaurant, Murray Hillbilly, which specializes in plant-based southern comfort food.
It s been going fantastic. Everybody is loving the food … It s been very positive and encouraging. Everybody seems very happy, Jenna Bardroff, cafe manager, told the Times-Union at the end of their first day on Monday.
Located at 2624 Atlantic Blvd., the cafe joins the ranks of Jacksonville s relatively few all-vegan restaurants, such as Murray Hillbilly, Sweet Theory Baking Co., Grenville Kitchen and KraVegan food truck. Our mission is to provide really healthy amazing food at an affordable cost since it can be difficult to find some vegan options in restaurants that typically are affordable, she said, noting they want to be accessible to everyone.
