Lucknow: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has issued a notice to former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi for his statements against Holy Quran, asking him to tender an unconditional apology and to withdraw his comments within 21 days.
The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has raised concerns about Rizvi s statements in the media on his plea in the Supreme Court for removal of the 26 verses from Holy Quran and has called it a well thought conspiracy to disturb communal harmony.

New Delhi [India], March 16 (ANI): The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has issued a notice to former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi for moving the Supreme Court with a plea seeking the removal of certain verses from the Quran claiming they promote violence.
The commission has asked Rizvi to withdraw his comments and tender an unconditional apology within 21 days, failing which it will hold a hearing and direct authorities to take appropriate legal action against Rizvi. Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], March 16 (ANI): Various Muslim organisations on Tuesday held a rally to protest against former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairmanWasim Rizvi over his petition filed in the Supreme Court wherein he has sought the removal of 26 verses from the Quran.
A Tahaffuz-e-Quran and Shia Sunni Itehaad rally was organised at Maidan-e-Ghadeer Darul-Shifa in the state capital to condemn the petition filed by Rizvi. Religious leaders from both Shia and Sunni Community participated in the rally.
Both Shia and Sunni religious leaders have condemned the attack of Waseem Rizvi on the sanctity of the Quran and said that it will not be tolerated and we will never endorse such statements .

New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities on Monday slammed former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi for his statement calling for the removal of certain verses from the Quran, asking him to withdraw his comments and tender an unconditional apology.
The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) issued a notice to Rizvi on the directions of NCM Vice Chairman Atif Rasheed and said his remarks were “highly provocative, objectionable and malicious, prejudicial to maintenance of peace and harmony, with intent to outrage the religious feelings of a particular community and to insult the particular religion”.
