Noida: Taking cognisance of a report in TOI about a 62-year-old Delhi resident’s claim that he had been subjected to communal abuse during a robbery incident in Noida last Sunday, the National Commission for Minorities has issued a notice, seeking details of the investigation from the police commissioner.
Seeking a reply within seven days, the commission has sought information on what action has been taken against the alleged culprits, how many persons have been arrested and the sections under which they have been booked.
According to the notice issued by joint secretary Daniel E Richards, the vice-chairman of the commission has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident, which took place in Noida’s Sector 37 area. “You are directed to send a report on the incident along with the following details within seven days so that the matter could be placed before the Commission for its consideration and further necessary action as deemed fit,” the notice to the police commissione

Lucknow: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has issued a notice to former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi for his statements against Holy Quran, asking him to tender an unconditional apology and to withdraw his comments within 21 days.
The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has raised concerns about Rizvi s statements in the media on his plea in the Supreme Court for removal of the 26 verses from Holy Quran and has called it a well thought conspiracy to disturb communal harmony.
