Small businesses that closed at some point during the pandemic can apply for up to $20,000 from the state of Michigan starting next week.
The state Legislature approved $55 million for the program in December and details of the plan were approved by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation on Thursday, Jan. 14.
It’s enough money to award grants to more than 2,600 businesses.
The $55 million Small Business Survival Grant Program will not be on a first-come, first-served basis – like a $10 million MEDC program was in December. There were more than 22,000 businesses that applied for that funding, and only the first 666 eligible businesses got the money, while the rest waited in an online q ....

Starting today, small businesses can apply for up to $15K in COVID relief grants


CADILLAC — A program administered by the state of Michigan has allocated nearly $2 million in grants for small businesses in this part of Michigan.
According to a press release issued by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation on Monday, Michigan’s small businesses that have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 virus will be able to apply for grants of up to $15,000 through the Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative beginning at 9 a.m. today. 
The program will utilize $10 million in federal U.S. Housing and Urban Development CARES Act funding to provide economic assistance to small businesses across Michigan.
Region 2, which includes Wexford and Missaukee counties, along with eight other counties in the area, will receive $500,000; and Region 4, which includes Osceola and Lake counties, along with 11 other counties, will receive $1.3 million.  ....
