Thanks for joining us. Union workers are fighting efforts tomorrow pose a contract on them tonight. Laura anthony is live tonight with the story. Laura . Well, union is holding a rally here behind me head of the 7 00 meeting. This union they dont buy claims is ot on the brink of a crisis. If anything, workers say this city can afford to give them a modest raise. After months of negotiations the city council is poised to impose a contract on one of the biggest unions. The city is facing huge liabilities. Fdiu local 1021 accepted a cut in recent years the city council expected to impose another 5 reduction for a total of 17 . Their salaries range from 50,000 for animal care workers to 78,000 for a maintenance neck nick. Average total for workers is about 106,000 per year its going to take a toll. Linda reed is the president of the clerical unit and says any cuts could be devastating to her members. We have many single moms and single dads and have families that are struggling.
