Michael Young was an easy-going person who was everybody’s friend, a Sudbury court heard Tuesday.
“Mike was a quiet, gentle man who loved music, gardening and all animals,” said stepmother Beverly Moore Young, in her victim impact statement read in by assistant Crown attorney Lindsey Santerre via Zoom link at the sentencing of Michael Marois.

Michael Marois alone is responsible for shooting and killing another man in a jealous rage, a Sudbury judge said Tuesday in sentencing the Hanmer man to life in prison.
Justice Alex Kurke said it’s wrong for Marois’ family and friends to blame his estranged girlfriend, Lisa Langdon, for what happened on July 12, 2020, during a barbecue at a Hanmer home.
