Jefferson County Circuit Judge Alaric May on Tuesday sentenced 25-year-old Xavier Marqise Thompson to life in prison with the possibility of parole. A jury in March convicted Thompson of felony murder in the killing of 20-year-old Zachariah Taylor Music.

HOOVER A third person is facing a murder charge in connection to the death of a man shot and killed in the Riverchase Galleria Parking deck on June 26, 2019.
Michael Jaran Brown, 21, of Birmingham, is charged with capital murder.

Two others were previously arrested in connection to the death of Zachariah Taylor Music, a UAB student.
Dannarious De Shon Washington, 20, of Hoover is charged with capital murder and Michael Jabari Akamune, 20, of Birmingham, is charged with murder.
Music, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was inside a car on the fifth level of the North Parking Deck. Hoover Fire medics responded to the scene and pronounced him dead at 1:39 p.m.

A third suspect has been charged in the 2019 fatal shooting of a UAB student outside the Riverchase Galleria.
A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted Michael Jaran Brown, 21, with murder. He is charged in the June 26 killing of Zachariah Taylor Music in the mall’s North Parking deck.
Previously charged and indicted in Music’s death are Dannarious De Shon Washington, 21, and Michael Jabari Akamune, 22. Washington is charged with capital murder, and Akamune is charged with murder.
Hoover police and firefighters responded about 1:30 p.m. that Wednesday to the fifth floor of the North Parking Deck. When they arrived, they found Music inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:39 p.m.
