If employers can design their own curriculum then workers will know just what skills they need. Third, we need common sense criminal justice reform. We need to give people the opportunity to earn a Second Chance in this country. Luckily, my colleagues have done a lot of good work on this front. Senator mike lee, congressman Raul Labrador and bobby scott introduced a very good piece of reform of the sentencing guidelines, would give the jumps more discretion with lowrisk, nonviolent offenses. They dont have to give the maybes sentence everytime. Theres no reason to lock anyone up longer than necessary and we also have to tackle this recidivism. About half of our excons are reincarcerated win three years of release. Think about that. But we know there are programs that work. That get people out of the life of crime. Thats why congressman jason and bobby scott introduced the Public Safety enhancement act. As long as they complete a program with a proven track record. Heres the point. Nonv
Moderator well go to howard. Well stay on the same topic. What is the most unfair criticism thats been leveled at your by our opponent or independent groups supporting by your opponent, why is it unfair and what is the truth . Moderator congresswoman, lets begin with you. Sheaporter the suggestion somehow or another im not for the middle class, that is probably the one i would say is the most unfair. I have spent my life working for the middle class. Ive spent my life working with seniors, for seniors. So hearing that nonsense about i would be cutting medicare, i would be doing this, doing that, it is not who i am, it is not what ive done with my lifes work. So that probably would rate up there. We all know not to get offended too much about this. Let me point out we understand this is part of it. The first ad of the whole political cycle was one against me by franks party, about the second week after i had gotten back in in january of 2013 or early february 2013. So you know, it happe
Combine the answers. Last time, i sort of walked through a scenario, okay, this isnt about the water. Its about anything thats a pollutant in the water. Our little scenario of the dry wash behind my home and i put fertilizer and plants and sediment and 14 inches of rain i get a year that all come on a tuesday, its running down the wash and hits the birdie river and the birdie river hits the salt river and runs into this rehabbed area. I use fertilizer, i move dirt. It potentially got washed down that dry wash into a running river. Do i potentially need a 4 zur 4 permit in planting my tree, and whats my exposure that may not be your intent today, but the way this is drafted, theres a whole new cause of action and future litigation coming at us that the lawyers now get to spend the next decade moving that direction . Well, the quick answer is, you know, and i want to be put the asterisks next to this, i would love to go to your house and look at the project myself, but i would say its hi
Youre saying. You need to back up. Because frankly, the outcome that you desire is going to be pushed back at by this entire country, not because it isnt an outcome that we might all want and even agree on, but because frankly, nobody believes you. I wonder i mean, i wonder how you feel about that. Or if you even agree. Well, i havent, and nor does the epa, do polling to determine who believes us or who doesnt believe us. But you dont have to. Let me just say what i believe, okay. I dont believe that most people dont trust epa. The polling i have seen, for what its worth, back in the past by others, shows that people prefer epa to be setting standards. And you know, i dont have enough data on what every person in the United States thinks about but preferring to have them set standards is not the same as being as trusting them. Yes. So this trust thing is a problem, particularly if congress has it. This is not an idle problem, and we need to work on that. Im here today, trying to explai
