Stalled Ntabankulu road project back on track

The tarring of a 14km hard gravel stretch linking the state-of-the-art Sipetu Hospital in rural Ntabankulu to the N2 is set to be completed by 2026.This after Eastern Cape transport MEC Xolile Nqatha announced a new contractor to take over the project on Thursday.

After unfulfilled promises spanning decades, the construction of the multibillion-rand Umzimvubu Water Project is well under way, with the first phase of the work more than 80% complete. But residents of the OR Tambo, Alfred Nzo and Joe Gqabi district municipalities will have to wait for about six years before they can access water from the project.
