Officer responded to all of this. It started when witnesses, however, reported seeing several men fleeing after those shots wefe heard near 102nd street around 8 30 last night. Holder and his other officer encountered a man who said his bicycle had been stolen at gunpoint. The two then came face to face with a man on a bike several blocks later, according to commissioner bratton. Take a listen. Officers from the Housing Bureau anticrime unit in plain clothes encountered a male on a bicycle at east 120th street along the fdr drive. Thats a pedestrian overpass over the fdr drive. There was an exchange of gunfire orbetween the male suspect and the two officers. During this exchange, officer holder was struck in the head. Reporter officer randolph holder was pronounced dead nearly two hours later at harlem hospital. The alleged suspect in all of this suffered a gunshot wound to hes recovering.
