2023 MGoPhotos of the Game (Week 11): Maryland

David Wilcomes and Paul Sherman covered photo duties this week while I slept in and drank beer. Give them praise. On tv or in person? I'm only 31 but I figure I've seen about 150 of these wins, plus/minus five. And when I consider that in my 20+ years of watching Michigan football, which seems like a long time (to me, sorry folks protected by the Age Discrimination in Employment Act), that I've only watched 15% of their wins, it really brings into perspective just how long this program has been operating. Games from the 1940s sound like a fairy tale, but they happened! I know that Benny Friedman is a person who existed and played football at Michigan because I read about it in a book (ok, Wik

And if you follow me on social media, you probably know me as a crazy bear photographer. Well what if I told you that you could go on the adventure of a lifetime and take a photo just like this? Well you most certainly can! I am partnering with Open Sky Expeditions, a team of travel experts that specialize in small-group photography journeys & expeditions to compelling destinations all around the world. They’re not just experts at what they do (and photographers themselves); Open Sky is also co-run by Ann Arbor native, diehard Wolverine, and Michigan grad, Temu Nana (LSA ’03). Next summer from August 12-20, 2024 I’ll be joining Temu & an expert bear guide on an expedition to one of my favorite places in the world: Katmai National Park, Alaska. There, amidst stunning landscapes only accessible by boat

2023 MGoPhotos of the Game (Week 9): Purdue

In another universe, this would be that game that everyone forgets within a few days, much like Nebraska last year or Indiana in 2021. Go ahead, name three things that happened in either of those games. But instead, due to /gestures at all of it, there was a lot of buzz going into Michigan's 2nd matchup with Purdue in 12 months. I knew what everyone was eager to talk about as I got to Ann Arbor. There was exactly one (1) Connor Stalions-esque joke to be made and within a couple hours of tailgating I heard it, or some derivative of it, probably 30 times. Rutgers must have Ohio State's signs- yup got it. Notre Dame needs to hire Connor Sta- YUP. GOT IT. Even just going on Twitter for my hourly short-term loop of dopamine rushes is becoming insufferable. Rumors, lazy jokes, clickbait articles, and reporters dancing around the same three headlines for an entire week is just exhausting. Should I just post wildlife photos on Twitter this week? Do we need a week long timeline cleans

2023 MGoPhotos of the Game (Week 8): Michigan State

In years past I've had to wait several hours for easy egress from the city but not this time. Sure, the game had been over for well over an hour, but the city was so quiet aside from the occasional group of students on their way to a house party and some marching band members going home. This has been the case for every game this season. After the Nebraska game, I accidentally turned on a Nebraska football radio channel where folks of all stages of sports grief were calling in. Meanwhile the city resumed business as if it was a Tuesday afternoon. In Minneapolis, the crowds were less rowdy after the game than during a hockey game (which is actually just Minnesota being on-brand).   Rock meet bottom [Patrick Barron]I've never attended a
