In another universe, this would be that game that everyone forgets within a few days, much like Nebraska last year or Indiana in 2021. Go ahead, name three things that happened in either of those games. But instead, due to /gestures at all of it, there was a lot of buzz going into Michigan's 2nd matchup with Purdue in 12 months. I knew what everyone was eager to talk about as I got to Ann Arbor. There was exactly one (1) Connor Stalions-esque joke to be made and within a couple hours of tailgating I heard it, or some derivative of it, probably 30 times. In years past I've had to wait several hours for easy egress from the city but not this time. Sure, the game had been over for well over an hour, but the city was so quiet aside from the occasional group of students on their way to a house party and some marching band members going home. This has been the case for every game this season. After the Nebraska game, I accidentally turned on a Nebraska football radio channel where folks of all stages of sports grief were calling in. Meanwhile the city resumed business as if it was a Tuesday afternoon.
