Faced with 2nd & 7 on the Washington 12 yard line, leading 20-13 midway through the fourth quarter, Michigan gave the ball to Blake Corum. With three TEs to the bottom of the formation, the Wolverines pulled AJ Barner across, along with left guard Trevor Keegan running to the right. Barner hit his block but Keegan wasn't quick enough to get to Washington LB Alphonzo Tuputala, who had a free run at Corum. The diminutive running back saw Tuputala to his outside and cutback inside.

The Road Ahead Rutgers (3-0, 0-0 B1G) Last week: Beat Virginia Tech, 35-16 Recap: Virginia Tech outgained Rutgers 319-302 (albeit in a less efficient manner) and picked up 18 first downs to 14 for Rutgers, and they held Gavin Wimsatt to 2.9 yards per attempt. But Rutgers had the only thing in the game that really worked for either team: an effective running game. Rutgers ran for 256 yards at 7.5 yards per carry with 4 touchdowns. This team is as frightening as: Speed bump. It isn’t going to do anything you don’t generally expect. Take it at the right speed, and everything will be fine. Full Album Link: Michigan Football vs Bowling Green 2023 (David Wilcomes) I pointed out yesterday that this weekend was probably the least enthusiastic I've felt for a football Saturday (at least in the Harbaugh era), but that this feeling was still, you know, fine. I tailgated for eight hours, drank some cheap champagne while watching some noon games on my phone, saw a bunch of friends. It was delightful. The game was frustrating but fine. I watched the end of the Rocky Mountain showdown on the floor of the Detroit airport at 1:30 in the morning. I think a lot of us are burned out from two straight years of non-meaningful non-conference schedules. But much like a pizza (and some other unnamed metaphors), even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good. If there's ever something we'll remember this game for, though, it was the stadium lights.
