The last day of the meet started with a dominant win from Oregon sophomore Cole Hocker and continued with a historic double victory in Saturday’s distance events.

After breaking the previous collegiate record with his teammate Cooper Teare in February, Hocker didn’t leave anything on the table in his quest to win the NCAA mile crown.
By the bell lap, the race was Hocker’s as he broke away from the field with every step in the final 200 meters, reaching the homestretch clear of any competition. ....

The line-up of schools competing this weekend at Randal Tyson Track Center normally would indicate a strong distance field along with an elite level distance medley relay. However, the women’s distance medley was canceled when the field became limited due to various circumstances.
“The mile, 3k and 5k are going to be heavily matched between Ole Miss and ourselves,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “Oregon’s distance women are dealing with covid and knocked a bunch of them out. Colorado is focusing on March 15 for NCAA cross country, so we’ll only see a couple of their athletes. ....

Standout Jamaican sprinter Kevona Davis, representing the University of Texas, registered an impressive 23.26 seconds to finish second overall in the women’s 200m at the Wooo Pig Classic indoor meeting at Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.
The 19-year-old Davis, who missed out in her first college race last week after she false-started in the 60m heat, bounced back to officially opened her collegiate career. The Longhorns freshman won heat three ahead of home favourite Jayla Hollis, who took second place in 23.35 in the third-best time overall. ....
