Residents around Masefield Drive had reported the vehicle, which was left next to a children s playground. Local PCSO s attended the scene and found the car to be off road and with no current keeper. The vehicle, which had damage to it s front, was subsequently removed. Bolton Council can investigate an abandoned vehicle if it has no keeper on the DVLA’s database and is untaxed. It can also be investigated if it is significantly damaged, run down or unroadworthy - much like the one that was recovered. Other reasons can include a missing number plate, the vehicle being stationary for a long period and if it has become the target of vandalism or anti-social behaviour. ....

The 21-year-old man was due to appear in court on Friday afternoon. A man has been charged with owning a dog which caused the death of a one-day-old baby. The charge came out of a police investigation into the baby’s death on Masefield Drive, Hamilton on 25 October. “We can confirm a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with owning a dog that causes serious injury/death to any person,” a police statement said. That is an offence against Section 58 of the Dog Control Act 1996. The man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Friday afternoon. ....
