He has a chronic lung condition and has to be constantly monitored at all hours of the night and day, leaving him highly vulnerable to the threat of Covid. His mother Sarah is his primary carer and has been lobbying TDs, councillors and campaign groups so the vaccination roll-out includes young but highly-vulnerable individuals, such as Martin, and their carers. ....
The mother of a ten-year-old boy whose condition has been described as one of the most severe cases of cerebral palsy in the country has spoken of the valuable support the family receives from the LauraLynn Children s Hospice. Since opening in 2011, the hospice has supported 18 families in Co Wicklow and currently has seven children from the county accessing its services. In addition, approximately ten families from the county are accessing their bereavement care, support and activities. Minister of Health Stephen Donnelly has announced the provision of €2.25 million to LauraLynn Children s Hospice over 2020 and 2021.
