The mother of a ten-year-old boy whose condition has been described as one of the most severe cases of cerebral palsy in the country has spoken of the valuable support the family receives from the LauraLynn Children s Hospice. Since opening in 2011, the hospice has supported 18 families in Co Wicklow and currently has seven children from the county accessing its services. In addition, approximately ten families from the county are accessing their bereavement care, support and activities. Minister of Health Stephen Donnelly has announced the provision of €2.25 million to LauraLynn Children s Hospice over 2020 and 2021. Martin is the son of Sarah and Marty Gibson O Gara of Newcastle and was born severely brain damaged at birth. Martin, who has a seven-year-old brother called Patrick, has been attending LauraLynn ever since the hospice opened in 2011. ....
