The family of a ten-year-old boy with severe cerebral palsy are fighting for his inclusion on the early vaccination roll-out because of his vulnerable condition. Martin is the son of Sarah and Marty Gibson O'Gara of Newcastle and was born severely brain damaged at birth. His condition has been described as one of the most severe cases of cerebral palsy in the country. He has a chronic lung condition and has to be constantly monitored at all hours of the night and day, leaving him highly vulnerable to the threat of Covid. His mother Sarah is his primary carer and has been lobbying TDs, councillors and campaign groups so the vaccination roll-out includes young but highly-vulnerable individuals, such as Martin, and their carers.
