The fire started around 1 00 this morning. Again, this group of stores in mount vernon. Those stores include a deli, a laundromat and a pizza place. 40 firefighters now on scene from pelham and yonkers as well. The fire chief tells me each of these businesses have a separate roof. The fire essentially is hiding itself. It keeps jumping in between the separate roofs. They have to tear apart the separate roofs and try to get in there. Thankfully no firefighters have been injured, but that building that collapsed, it collapsed again about an hour into the fire starting, which firefighters tell me is very quick. That really surprised them. Thats rather quickly for a building to collapse . Extremely quickly. Upon arrival, again, we had a tremendous smoke pushing out, intense heat in the basement and it ran right across the roof into the other stores. Reporter thankfully, again, no one has been injured. Morning. Right. Cindy it is absolutely unusually cold. This is more like the end of november, not the middle of october here. So very cold temperatures when you head out the door this morning and the places that didnt see a freeze on sunday morning are seeing that this morning here along the coastline where we have freeze warnings up until 9 00 this morning up and down the coast. The exception is nantucket this morning. Look at these temperatures even boston at the freezing mark. The mid 20s in beverly. Worcester 26 degrees. Fitchburg 26. As cold as 24 in taunton. 24 all the way down to the south coast. And even in falmouth this morning, were sitting below freezing at 30 degrees. So it is cold. But the skies are mainly clear a few clouds here on the outer cape. Cold tells the story today. With High Pressure nosing in from the west. Were talking about walltowall sunshine.
