the original decision cited part of the 14th amendment involving anyone involved an interaction as an officer of the idea. all of the united states. donald trump s appeal is saying it doesn t apply to him because he never served as an officer of the united states or took an oath to support the constitution. on what planet can he argue that? isn t that obviously what the president of the united states does? i think that what he is referencing is the fact that the president is one of the offices that is not explicitly named in the statute. however, to your point, it s very hard to argue that being the president of united states is not the same as being an officer. it s almost as though he s looking at a point of a mission it s not the first time we ve seen him do this in court filings, but it does seem to be
