On Tuesday, Rene Salas, 36, is scheduled for a hearing on the status of jury selection in the 406th District Court, according to court records. Salas is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, one count of assault on a family member, one count of injury to a child/elderly with intent of bodily injury and one count of attempt to commit capital murder of a peace officer.

According to online court records, Garza’s attorney, Marcel Notzon, drafted a plea agreement that he will present to the Webb County District Attorney’s Office. Last July, a status hearing occurred via Zoom where Garza was present via audio because he was having trouble connecting. He was home with COVID-19, according to the hearing notes. The case unfolded just shy of 2 a.m. on March 6, 2018 at a gathering in the 1100 block of Topaz Trail in the Tiara De San Isidro Subdivision.
