Chief Lang’s first day as fire chief will be June 21.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA The City of Manhattan Beach has appointed Michael Lang as the city’s next fire chief, according to a press release from the city.
“I am humbled and honored to be trusted with the responsibility of leading the Manhattan Beach Fire Department,” Chief Lange said in a statement. “I am grateful for the support of the city manager and city council and their confidence in my ability to maintain the highest standards of excellence and professionalism that the Manhattan Beach Fire Department exemplifies.” ....

Members of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department in late December became among the first local first responders to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Firefighters and paramedics received doses of the Monderna vaccine. Acting battalion chief Dave Shenbaum said the vaccination came at a crucial time because the department has encountered a spike in COVID-related calls. ....
