Brent Jordan Smith is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Tamara Boland on October 6, 2020 and low range drink-driving. Mackay City Patrol Acting Inspector Anthony Cowan last month said Mr Burrage had been testing newly installed headlights on his 4WD and was stopped on an access road when his vehicle was struck by a Mitsubishi Lancer about 7.50pm on March 20. Inspector Cowan said the Lancer had earlier that night come to the attention of police at a roadside traffic operation during which checks found the car had been fitted with allegedly stolen number plates. An East Mackay man police allege was driving the Lancer was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The moment a young father’s dual cab ute and an oncoming truck collided on the Peak Downs Highway in a horror smash on Friday was caught on dashcam.
That footage will be central to the ongoing investigation into the crash which claimed the life of 35-year-old Dysart man and father of three Christopher Zarvalis.
The horrific crash in the early hours of Friday, February 26 closed the Peak Downs Highway for several hours as investigators worked to piece together what lead up to the incident.
Mr Zarvalis is believed to have left Mackay late Thursday night and was on his way back to Dysart when the crash occurred about 12.30am.
