The Supreme Court Friday refused to stay a Kerala High Court order granting bail to suspended IAS officer M Sivasankar in a money laundering case registered in connection with gold smuggling in the state.
A bench comprising justices Ashok Bhushan and R S Reddy took note of the fact that the suspended Principal Secretary, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 28 last year, was already out on bail.

Life Mission housing project was one of the pet projects of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan through which homes are built for the homeless. CBI 
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday pertaining to the Kerala Life Mission Project scam.
The agency has said that the Kerala government s project has used proxy firms like Unitac and Sane Ventures to receive funds directly from a foreign agency by the name of the UAE consulate and was violative of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
The CBI claimed there is prima facie evidence of foul play and a conspiracy among the officials of Life Mission and others for diversion of foreign contribution and receipt of kickbacks from the said contribution.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday granted bail to suspended IAS officer M Sivasankar arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 28 in a money- laundering case registered in connection with gold-smuggling in the state.
In a relief to the former principal secretary to Kerala Chief Minister, the Additional Chief Judicial (Economic Offences) Court, Ernakulam, also granted him default bail in a case registered by Customs in connection with the smuggling of gold.
M Sivasankar, an accused in gold smuggling case and former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister was allowed default bail in the money laundering case registered by Enforcement Directorate in relation to the gold smuggling case.
