Representative Image Kozhikode airport gold smuggling case: Court sends Arjun Aayanki to custody of Customs dept till July 6 ANI | Updated: Jun 30, 2021 04:58 IST Kochi (Kerala) [India], June 30 (ANI): Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) Court on Tuesday sent Arjun Aayanki, the former DYFI local leader (youth wing of CPIM) to the custody of the Customs department till July 6 in the Kozhikode airportgold smuggling case. He was arrested by Customs after 6 hours long interrogation on June 28. Customs stated in the remand report that, Arjun Aayanki is a major link in this case. He is not cooperating with the probe. He also attempted to destroy the evidence in the case. He destroyed his phone before he arrived for interrogation on June 28.

Even though gold seizure from airports is common in Kerala, it was after years of gap that gold was seized from a sea port in state.According to DRI officers, following the seizure, searches were carried out in various locations in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. The seized gold is valued at Rs 7.2 crore which is the highest one this year.

Dollar smuggling case: Court grants bail to M Sivasankar ANI | Updated: Feb 03, 2021 22:03 IST Kochi (Kerala) [India], February 3 (ANI): The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offences) Court on Wednesday granted bail to former principal secretary to the Kerala Chief Minister’s office, M Sivasankar in the US Dollar smuggling case. Sivasankar, who in Judicial custody for over three months had been granted bail by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate s Court on Monday in the Kerala Gold Smuggling Case being probed by Customs Department, however, remained in prison because the case registered against him regarding the Enforcement Directorate s (ED) dollar smuggling. The Economic Offences Court, while granting bail to the former principal secretary to the Kerala CMO observed that a major part of the investigation in relation to Sivasankar s alleged limited role is complete.
