mar-a-lago. just one day after the justice department released the redacted affidavit that led to the search of his florida resort. the u.s. intelligence community is now assessing whether national security was put at risk. and new tonight, a federal judge has scheduled a thursday hearing to consider donald trump s request for a special master to oversee the fbi s review of evidence seized from his florida home. cnn s natasha bertrand is here to break it all down. reporter: pam, we are learning that the direct are of national intelligence confirmed the committee is working together with the justice department to review all relevant documents retrieved from former president trump s foam mar-a-lago. to a letter and oversight committee, her office and doj are conducting a classification review of relevant materials including those recovered during the search of mar-a-lago earlier this month. she also noted that the intel community will conduct an assessment of the potential r
rejecting a special master. a filing that included this, a striking photo of highly classified documents found at mar-a-lago. among trump s arguments, an admission that there were classified documents there. but that was to be expected among presidential records. no big deal. and should not have triggered an fbi search. joining us now, legal analyst loni coombs. so nice to see you. thanks for getting up our staying up late for us. so lawyers for the former president, they are,ing that it is the justice department that is unchecked and that these highly classified documents stashed away at the president s resort are no big deal? yeah, this is a really interesting reply brief. it was supposed to be a reply to all of the very strong arguments that were made by the department of justice in their response to this request for a special master. but instead it really read more like a pr statement, you know, going after the fbi and the doj as usual saying that they are unchecked and
shimon, you ve obtained the report and read it. tell us what you ve learned. reporter: the lackadaisical response, they talk about how there was no command, no control, no leadership essentially on the scene of the shooting. it was just truly chaos, every officer doing their own thing. we re also learning what the police chief, the school police chief, pete arredondo, told the committee. he appeared before the committee. he explained his thinking. he said at one point he didn t believe there were any kids inside the score because it was awards day. what he said was he looked at an adjacent room, room 110, and when he went in there, there was no one in there, and it made himly were no babies as he said inside the room. of course, we know that was not the case. he also describes how initially his thinking was that this was an active shooter situation, but then what happens is he starts to believe that the subject, the gunman, is barricaded, and that in order to rescue the oth
