Bones Found in McCullouch Park Likely Leftover from Broadway Cemetery

Human remains found in McCullouch Park during excavation of the General Electric campus will be relocated to Lindenwood Cemetery.
The bones were discovered as crews excavated a spot for construction of a temporary traffic signal and handed over to the Allen County Coroner’s office for further processing.
The Allen County Genealogical Society s attempt to superimpose the plat for Broadway Cemetery over a modern aerial image of the park.

Michael Burris, chief investigator for the coroner’s office, says they reached out to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for next steps. First, they needed to ensure that the remains were not Native American. ....

Stoneham Historical Society & Museum hosts lecture on Tidd Family

Each May, the Stoneham Historical Society & Museum partners with the Stoneham Historical Commission for a joint program to commemorate Historical Preservation Month.
Dee Morris, popular historian, will present The Unstoppable Tidd Family on May 13. Usually, this is an in person presentation but thanks to the support  and efforts of Stoneham TV, it will be available virtually from the comfort of everyone s living rooms. 
Beyond wealthy, wealthy, the iconic Tidd Family in the 19th century employed hundreds of local workers. Their Pine Street tannery contributed mightily to the prosperity of the town. Several energetic Tidd women were as well known for their philanthropy as for their social events. Their landmark mansions ornamented the Central Square area for decades. ....
