We have been spending the week with an Amazing Group of educators from all over the country brought together under the auspices of the gulder Lehrman Institute of Early American History. This is generously supported by the Library Company of philadelphia and the pew center for arts and heritage. We spent the week tossing around ideas about how we might redraw Early American History. We tried to do that by suggesting one productive way of redrawing that history is to think in terms of a complicated and ever shifting set of contests among three sets of actors. A portrait of persistence. For this exhibition i worked 3. 5 teachingearching, myself this history, and finding all the objects. In the exhibition, we have about 124 objects, of which there are 63 portraits. In curating the exhibition i was , hoping to commemorate the 19th amendment and tell the history of the 19th amendment and how women lobbied to get this amendment passed and ratified. But also ask questions about it. Ask what does it do and what does it not do, and why 1965, the Voting Rights act, was considered a part two of the amendment. 19thif you follow me, i will take you through the exhibition and show you a few of the objects that tell this history.
