I will delve into the story of what one proposed monument meant to the civil Rights Activist and feminist, Mary Church Terrell, in light of her own history. In 1923, the United Daughters of the confederacy pressed lawmakers in the United States to create a pass a bit to pass a monument to the faithful colored mammys of the south. In 1913 white women unsuccessfully tried to keep black women out of Washington Dc is national suffrage parade.
