Bald Eaglet Dies After Nest Collapses at Standley Lake A five-week-old eaglet names SL1 has died after the nest at Standley Lake collapsed on Thursday afternoon. Standley Lake Regional Park released the sad news of the loss of the eaglet who was the only offspring of the bald eagle parents. Standley Lake Regional Park s Facebook page posted an update of SL1 Thursday morning at 6 a.m. saying that the eaglet was already attempting to fly at only five weeks old. According to 9 News, the eaglet was watched via a live feed online by people all over the world. It is unclear at this time as to what may have caused the nest to collapse at Standley Lake. ....
A busy camping season lies ahead in Saskatchewan and northeastNOW is putting the spotlight on nearby regional parks ahead of the May long weekend. Residents that are looking at camping options while still staying close to home due to restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, don’t need to look too far. Struthers Lake Regional Park west of Melfort has already filled about 80 per cent of their camping spots according to manager Cheryl Crooks. Crooks said her team at the park is expecting a busier season than last year, which had also picked up from previous years. “Last year was about double and this year looks like we are headed up above that so it will be a good year,” Crooks said. ....
