The Jefferson County Sheriff s Office said the call came in around 12:20 p.m. of a plane down. The plane was on the ground near W. 100th Avenue and Simms Street in a field near Standley Lake not far from the Westminster Hills Dog Park. There were two people on the plane at the time, but authorities confirmed there were no injuries. Police do not have an exact cause for why the plane went down, but it may have been caused by an engine malfunction.

Bald Eaglet Dies After Nest Collapses at Standley Lake A five-week-old eaglet names SL1 has died after the nest at Standley Lake collapsed on Thursday afternoon. Standley Lake Regional Park released the sad news of the loss of the eaglet who was the only offspring of the bald eagle parents. Standley Lake Regional Park s Facebook page posted an update of SL1 Thursday morning at 6 a.m. saying that the eaglet was already attempting to fly at only five weeks old. According to 9 News, the eaglet was watched via a live feed online by people all over the world. It is unclear at this time as to what may have caused the nest to collapse at Standley Lake.
