Vester flanagan, a former reporter at the station who grew up right here in the bay area. Flanagan posted his own video of the shooting. And later he killed himself as Police Closed in. Tonight, coworkers are remembering Alison Parker and her cameraman adam ward. Parker had just celebrated her 24th birthday. She had been at the station for a year. Ward had been at the local station for a few years. They were both thought of highly. They did great work every day and put their all into what they did. Im going to miss them. I heard one of my colleagues say alison was ambitious but in a good way, not ambitious to climb over people but ambitious to be successful with whatever it is she was assigned. Adam, um, was a wonderful person to be around. Consistently positive. A really good photojournalist, good shooter and editor. Vester flanagan was fired from the station in 2013. A pictur ....
Reporter the first accused Alison Parker of making racist comments. Then that he had filed a complaint. Then questioned her hiring. Reporter they were followed by a similar accusation against her photographer. And most chilling. I filmed the killing. See facebook. A short time later, flanagans car was spotted on an Interstate West of washington, d c. Reporter the killer ended up crashing the car and when police approached, he shot himself. Dread knot. Tear the craft has flown in air shows around the country and was just coming back from the Pacific Coast dream machine show when it collided with the cessna. The fact that the plane immediately flew more than 100 miles after the fatal crash surprises some pilots, including this man who lives nearby and used to fly for the military. I was concerned of that myself. Why one aircraft returned here. I didnt know they were both from this area. But i cant speculate on that much further.
