Green pledge: KTC XI to play against Manipur ISL XI today

Dimapur, June 3 (EMN): Kohima Town Club (KTC) is all set to host the exhibition match between KTC XI and Kangleipak Pari, a team consisting of Indian Super League players from Manipur, at IG stadium Kohima from 5:30 pm onwards on Saturday. This is the first of its kind in Nagaland, where a club, in collaboration with Kohima Forest Division will be organising an exhibition match to promote sports as well as creating awareness on environment, an update from KTC informed. The exhibition match aims to promote environment awareness while giving exposure to the upcoming state players against the elite team of Indian Super League team from Manipur. On the eve of the World Environment Day, around 2000 saplings will be distributed to the spectators and the players towards a green pledge. Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire will attend the occasion as the special guest. Ticket price for the exhibition match is INR 100 per person. New Market FC lift Kohima Super Cup title

Our Correspondent Kohima, May 31 (EMN): Unbeaten New Market FC (NMFC) won Kohima Super Cup 2022 after taking down Barak FC 4-0 at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on Tuesday. Dubbed as one of the oldest football clubs in Nagaland, NMFC emerging as the champion did not come as a surprise with other strong other clubs bowing out in the semi-finals. The team had remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, while its opponent Barak FC lost a match against Magdaline FC during the league match. The 45-year-old NMFC took the lead when Haotinmang Thomsong scored the first goal four minutes into the match. However, the match was halted for a few minutes in between when one of the floodlights went off. Letkhokai Kuki scored the second goal for NMFC in the 23rd minute. In the second half, Thejasetuo and Nyithong Magh scored a goal each in the 60th and 66th minute to seal the win for NMFC. Kohima Super Cup: Barak FC to take on New Market FC in final today

Kohima, May 30 (EMN): Youngsters’ favourite Barak FC will play against New Market FC, one of the oldest clubs in Nagaland and an all-time favourite, in the grand finale of the 4th Kohima Super Cup 2022 at IG Stadium Kohima on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Barak FC is making a comeback after a five-year gap, while New Market FC is a 45-year-old club based in Kohima.  New Market remains unbeaten in the tournament so far, while Barak FC lost a match against Magdaline FC during the league match. Aloumei Panmei, Barak FC captain and the only player from the old Barak FC squad, is unlikely to play in the first 11 due to his injury. Playmaker Awang Kaurintah will likely lead the team, while midfielder Victor Thomsong will continue to lead the team for New Market FC as the captain. Our Correspondent Kohima, May 29 (EMN):  In less than ten minutes to full-time, New Market FC knocked A Yhome FC out of the ongoing Kohima Super Cup in the semi-final after scoring two late headers at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on Sunday. Not long after the match began, striker Punuru Nienu of A Yhome FC scored the first goal at the 3rd minute while New Market FC could not score any goal in the first half despite having better possession of the ball, most targets and corners. Nevertheless, things got better for New Market FC and its fans when Rhitsho Mero headed home the equaliser through a free kick in the 87th minute. Both teams played hard to seal the win and in the process, attracted yellow cards from the referee. Kohima Super Cup: Barak FC enter final - Eastern Mirror

Our Correspondent Kohima, May 28 (EMN): Barak FC on Saturday defeated G-Sports FC to enter the final of the 4th Kohima Super Cup played at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) in Kohima. Barak FC rode on their luck as they beat G-Sports FC via penalties 5-3 after the match ended in a 3-3 draw. In the most anticipated semi-final match, Elminhao Kilong Kuki scored the first goal in the 13th minute for Barak FC, which was then equalised in the next minute by Menguzelie Rutsa for G-Sports in the 14th minute. Winamthiu scored another goal for Barak FC in the 73th minute yet Temjenwati added a goal in the 80th minute for G-Sports FC to make it 2-2 during the stipulated time. During the extra time, the match was evenly poised as Kekhrieletuo Tsira of G-Sports FC scored but Baoringdao Bodo scored again to equalise the score 3-3 to decide the winner via a penalty shootout.
