Lotha community celebrates Tokhu Emong across state

EM BureauKohima/Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): The Lotha community in Kohima celebrated Tokhu Emong at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Monday. Addressing the gathering, former Member of Parliament, Khyomo Lotha, said that the post-harvest festival, Tokhu Emong, teaches about work culture and thanked the forefathers for initiating the festival. To this day, the farmers after toiling under the sun and rain, celebrate the result of their works, he added. He said that Tokhu Emong is a time for forgiveness, love, and oneness and appealed to the churches under Wokha district to forgive one another in the spirit of oneness. He informed that Lothas came to Kohima in the 90’s for education and businesses etc., and chose to settle down. ‘Till date, the community has cordial relationships with counterpart communities, especially Kohima village, with whom the special friendship was fostered back in those days. Churches in Nagaland observe World Sunday School Day

EM BureauKohima/ Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Various churches in Nagaland including Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) in Kohima and at Nepali Baptist Church (NBC) in Chümoukedima town celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 6. At Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, World Sunday School Day was celebrated with Adino Zhotso, lecturer at Shalom Bible Seminary, Kohima, as the speaker. Impressed with the performances presented by the Sunday School students, she remarked that they have potentials to be “great ambassadors of God’s Kingdom.” Making references from Ephesians 6:10-20, she dwelled on the armours of God which included belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and sword of the spirit. Nagaland: Three unidentified dead bodies recovered

EM Bureau Kohima/Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): Three dead bodies were found at separate locations in the state, the police said. One person was found dead in a drain on Thursday morning below Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). Until afternoon, the identity of the person was not established and was only identified later in the evening by the family members at the police station. The Additional SP and PRO, Kohima Police, Vitoshe K Sumi, speaking to Eastern Mirror informed that the wife and children came for identification in the evening, and he was identified as Pardeshi Lal (45). The deceased hailed from Bishnupur (Helta), Gumla district in Jharkhand, presently residing in Zubza GREEF camp in Kohima. The police officer informed that the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the result of the post-mortem is awaited.
