Lotha community celebrates Tokhu Emong across state

EM BureauKohima/Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): The Lotha community in Kohima celebrated Tokhu Emong at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Monday. Addressing the gathering, former Member of Parliament, Khyomo Lotha, said that the post-harvest festival, Tokhu Emong, teaches about work culture and thanked the forefathers for initiating the festival. To this day, the farmers after toiling under the sun and rain, celebrate the result of their works, he added. He said that Tokhu Emong is a time for forgiveness, love, and oneness and appealed to the churches under Wokha district to forgive one another in the spirit of oneness. EM BureauKohima/ Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Various churches in Nagaland including Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) in Kohima and at Nepali Baptist Church (NBC) in Chümoukedima town celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 6. At Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) in Kohima, World Sunday School Day was celebrated with Adino Zhotso, lecturer at Shalom Bible Seminary, Kohima, as the speaker. Union Minister Chandrashekhar urges Zunheboto officials to develop skill development plan

EM Bureau Dimapur/Wokha, Sep. 26 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics, and Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, on Monday, asked the Zunheboto district administration to develop a skill development plan that maps local aspirations and creates opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurships. “Our emphasis should be making optimum use of local resources and reduce migration to urban centres,” he said. He stated this during his visit to Zunheboto district, the first Union minister to do so in a span of four decades. NSCN(IM)-GoI continue talks; core committee to meet WC-NNPG

EM BureauDimapur/ Kohima, Sep. 22 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has resumed peace talks with the government of India after a short hiatus following a stalemate purportedly over the former’s demand for a separate Naga flag and a constitution but the fresh dialogue remained inconclusive. After the first round of talk on Wednesday, the negotiation was expected to continue on Thursday in an attempt to find a solution to the decades-old Naga political issue. However, those involved in the negotiation are not willing to divulge into the outcome of the talks, unlike in the past when they used to provide some information. A source told this newspaper that they want to keep the talks confidential this time. It was also learned that the NSCN (IM) delegation led by senior leader V S Atem would continue the negotiations in Delhi and their return would depend on the outcome of the talks.
