Kirksville Thousand Hills Rotary Club works on community service projects

This week at the Kirksville Thousand Hills Rotary Club meeting, it was their monthly community service project. Members put together Birthday Bags for clients at Preferred Family. The bags include dental hygiene, socks, throw blankets and more. Terry Miller (pictured) spearheaded the project. The club put together birthday bags for both the men and women there. The Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club meets on Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. in the Kirksville Aquatic Center meeting room, 801 E. Mill Street. Anyone who would like to learn more about the club or Rotary International is invited to attend.

Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club donates to shoe campaign

The Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club recently donated $600 to the Rotary District 6040 Shoes for Orphan Souls campaign. Donations of cash, new shoes and socks are delivered to Buckner International, based in Dallas, Texas. Buckner distributes the shoes and socks to children of all ages in orphanages around the world. The shoes and socks contribute to better health, education, and self esteem. Over the 20-plus years that the program has been going in Northeast Missouri, area Rotary Club members and friends have purchased and donated over 400,000 pairs of shoes.

Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club learns about Inspire Hope campaign

Kirksville-Thousand Hills Rotary Club members recently learned about the "Inspire Hope" campaign from Carolyn Chrisman and Krista Garth. Complete Family Medicine, a service of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, is raising funds for a Cancer Patient Assistance Fund through this campaign. The "Inspire Hope" campaign will assist patients and their families with care kits needed for travel and treatment to bridge the gap until local radiation treatment is available.
