Currently, the number of judges at the Kerala High Court is 42 judges, as against its sanctioned strength of 47. With Justice Snehalatha's appointment, the total number of women judges in the High Court has risen to 5.
The Court dismissed a pre-arrest bail plea by PG Manu, a Senior Government Pleader who resigned after he was accused of rape. The Court added that the accused could approach the magistrate for bail after surrendering.
The Kerala High Court has sought the response of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter, among others, in a plea seeking a probe into allegations of bribery misuse of power by high-ranking public officials
"The conduct of political defection betrays not only the party under whose ticket the candidate contested the elections but also the will of the people who elected the candidate", the Court said.
The State government on Monday informed the Kerala High Court that it would be dropping charges against former President of the Kerala High Court Advocates' Association (KHCAA) in the judges' bribery case.
