Tomahawk Leader Newspaper Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County hosting ‘Shred Day’ For the Tomahawk Leader MERRILL – Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County will provide the opportunity to dispose of personal documents during its “Shred Day” at the parking lot of Kindhearted Home Care, 120 S. Mill St., Merrill, on Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Kindhearted Home Care, Merrill Community Bank, and BMO-Harris Bank are sponsoring the event. Cancelled checks, bank statements, credit card receipts and statements and other personal documents will be shredded by Confidential Records Co., “a AAA rated National Association for Information and Destruction (NAID) company,” a release from Crime Stoppers stated.

Headlines for Wednesday, April 7th

Mike Dreith was elected Fairfield Mayor last night, defeating Teresa Robinson and Nate McGaha. Dreith collected a total of 762 votes. His opponents had 302 and 48, respectively, after unofficial totals. In Cisne, Roy Atwood was re-elected Mayor, defeating Ken Neff and Christy King. Atwood had 77 votes compared to 68 and six from his opponents. Fairfield’s Alderman races were tightly contested, with one still up in the air. In Ward 2, Larry Vest, Angel Maguire, and Clifford Reever each had 58 votes. County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow says three mail-in ballots remain at large. Dewey Eckleberry defeated Cody Attebury in Ward 1, Eugene McGill defeated Dick Clark in Ward 3, and Terry Stahl beat challenger Ed Prince in Ward 4. In Albion, the only contested race was for Ward 1, where Heather Borowiak defeated Levi Fenton.

Headlines for Thursday, February 4th

The Wayne County Health Department will hold another drive-through vaccination clinic tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. People should go to the staging area at the Wayne County Fairgrounds by using the east entrance to the property on West Main Street. People will then be directed by staff when it is their turn to go to the health department for the vaccine. As with previous clinics in the county, there is no reservation list, and the clinic will be conducted in a first-come, first-serve manner. Provided photo DARKE COUNTY While 2020 was certainly a challenging and interesting year, it has also served as a reminder to count one’s blessings and to be thankful for the good in the world. As with many non-profits, Bridges To College was concerned how the pandemic would affect the ability to serve our community. Fundraising during normal times can be challenging for non-profits, so the concern was great. When the decision was made to postpone its annual golf fundraiser in June, The Karlh McCallister Memorial, the organization decided to call on its closest supporters for a fundraising campaign in lieu of a golf outing.
