Record of 9 thank you, rob. Thousands of people in the bay area were without power because of a series of power outages. Nbc bay area live in san mateo tonight where it looks power is restored based on what im seeing behind you there. Reporter it does. The power was restored here at 8 00 this evening, but at certain points of the day across the bay area, there were about 43,000 customers that did not have electricity, and right now as i smeek, there are tens of thousands of customers who are still in the dark in certain parts of the bay area. On a day when temperatures swelled into the triple digits in some places, san mateo was cooler, but having no power was still fun. Went to the lakes, got some sunburns going on so we didnt have the fan. Family out on fathers day, and according to the Power Company, 7400 customers were affected. In livermore, more than 4 it200 in the dark. Businesses downtown closed because of the outage. Across the bay, people went to beaches to escape the heat. T

I spoke with a Police Officer late this evening and he described the chaotic scene that happened right inside here at this shopping center. Many people posted it on social media. Police say about 2 dozen people started fighting in the food court at about 6 30 tonight. About 30 officers responded to the scene, running up the escalators and trying to keep innocent shoppers safe. Police say some of the people involved tried to run from officers. And one video even showed a chair being thrown at officers. The violence spread to Different Levels of the shopping center. It did compicate matters, and thats why we had to try and stop the situation as soon as possible.
