SRINAGAR: The trial of Subham Sangra, an accused in the gangrape and murder of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Jammu’s Kathua, who was earlier declared as a juvenile formally began on Wednesday in the district court Pathankot, Punjab, Times of India reported.
Seeking justice for over four years, the family of the eight-year-old Kathua rape-murder victim is eagerly waiting for the start of the trial against Shubam Sangra, who will be treated as an adult following a Supreme Court order. "We welcome the judgement of the Supreme Court, and we are hopeful that we will finally get complete justice as Shubam Sangra is the main accused in the case," the girl's family said.
The Supreme Court Wednesday ordered that Shubam Sangra, accused in the 2018 rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua, should be tried as adult and not juvenile.
