Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday (31 December) said that 60 per cent BJP-backed candidates have won in the local body elections in the state.
According to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), candidates backed by it have won 29,478 seats while the Congress claimed that candidates supported by it have bagged 24,560 seats. The JD(S) candidates have won 15,825 panchayat seats. The BJP captured 3,600 gram panchayats, Yediyurappa said at a press conference.
He said that the emphatic victory of BJP-backed candidates in panchayat polls in the state is a testimony of people s unwavering faith in the leadership and development agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party s commitment towards Gram Vikas and Antyodaya.

Bengaluru, Jan 1 : Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Thursday said that 60 per cent BJP-backed candidates have won in the local body elections in the state.

HUBBALLI: Results of the GP polls will be declared on Wednesday. Counting of votes polled in two phases in over 5,762 GPs will begin at all taluk headquarters 8am onwards. On Tuesday, villagers were seen betting on the margin of votes that will be in double digits at many wards.
Items like bikes, tractor, agricultural land and sites were on offer for bets. Annappa Pujar, a farmer in Kundagol said many youths are betting in cash. “Bets range from Rs 5,000 to 20,000 in our taluk.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday said that 60 per cent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-supported candidates have won in the local body elections in the state. The party has captured 3,600-gram panchayats, he said at a press conference.
On Wednesday, Karnataka state election commission had announced the results for 54,041 seats of 5,728 Gram Panchayats, while that of the remaining 36,781 seats were to be announced today. As per the latest reported, the counting is still underway.
