hardly any staff. i can t put my head around it. reporter: this woman who lives nearby asked us to hide her identity after complaining about the care at the home for 20 years. she says the past few days have been the worst and she called for help. the staff isn t over there. what s going on? reporter: when authorities arrived they found 14 patients inside including amputees, the bedridden and mentally impaired with only two workers caring for them. a janitor and a cook. it s kind of hard to fathom i mean you know they re human beings here. and we just leave people behind? reporter: the patients were moved to other facilities or in with family all said to be doing okay. authorities are now searching for the staff who abandoned their posts and their patients. and for the neighbors, that s the sickest part of all. hopefully some people are going to have their eyes open what s been doing on over there for the past 20 years and you know it s just ridiculous. repo
