in on this suspect before he surrendered this morning. henry, that driver showed up this morning with an attorney. reporter: that is correct. there s a growing memorial out here on the crash site for 12- year-old lana carlo, she was walking home from school when she was hit by a truck. that driver stopped briefly, but took off and disappeared for 16 hours. 24-year-old joshua byrne was taken to jail by chp officers in castro valley, a accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed 12-year-old lana carlos. anything you want to say to her family? reporter: lana was in the crosswalk with her sister when she was hit by this truck at around 3:30 monday afternoon. they were crossing the street, and about midway through, for unknown reasons, joshua turned left, and collided into lana. reporter: surveillance video shows what the driver did next. we did see joshua after striking lana stopped, looked, and took off leaving her to die. reporter: he was arrested on suspicion of h
