Thomas Higgins fired a five-under-par 67 and Kian Rose added a four-under-par 68 on Tuesday to lead Clemson to a 280-team score and a second-place standing after two rounds of the Watersound Invitational at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Fla.  The 12-team tournament that features six of the top 20 teams in the nation will conclude on Wednesday.Third-ranked Vanderbilt owns a seven-shot lead over the Tigers with a 20-under-par score of 556.  The Tigers have a 36-hole score  of 563, while 10th ranked Virginia is third at 564 and 13th ranked Florida State is fourth at 567.  Georgia Tech, ranked 12th in the nation, is fifth at 568.  The field includes six of the top 20 teams in the nation.Higgins and Jonathan Nielsen stand in a tie for fifth after 36 holes with identical scores of 139.   Higgins had a 67 in the second round thanks to four birdies, an eagle and a bogey.  His eagle took place on the par five 13th

Clemson Returns to Course at Watersound Invitational

After winning its first tournament of the year at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, SC last week, the Clemson men’s golf team returns to action Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 19-21, at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Fla. The Watersound includes some of the most traditional golf programs in the nation. The field includes Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and host school Florida State.The tournament will be played on the par 72 Shark’s Tooth Golf Club Black course that was designed by Greg Norman and  measures 7,246 yards.Clemson will feature a lineup that includes Andrew Swanson and Thomas Higgins. Both players finished in the top four at the Battle at Briar’s Creek, the first time Clemson has had two top four finishers in the same tournament since March of 2022 when Colby Patton and Zack Gordon were co-medalists at the Wake Forest Invitational on Pinehurst #2.Swanson has a 72.00 stroke

Clemson Wins Battle at Briar's Creek – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC Andrew Swanson shot a season best 66 and Thomas Higgins fired a bogey free 68 in the first round, to lead Clemson to the championship of the Battle at Briar’s Creek at John’s Island, SC on Tuesday afternoon.  The tournament was the first event of the spring season for Clemson who won the tournament by two shots over Chattanooga.Clemson finished with a 36-hole score of 575, while Chattanooga finished at 577.  Augusta was third at 579 and Indiana was fourth at 5811.  Elon was fifth at 582 and Kentucky was sixth at 583.  The 14 team field included seven Power Five Conference Teams.The 14 teams in the field played between 8 and 11 holes on Monday on the par 72 course that measures 7,175 yards before bad weather stopped play in the early afternoon.  The teams finished the first round on Tuesday morning, then played the final round on Tuesday afternoon. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.Clemson completed its first round
