Clemson Finishes 10th at Ka'anapali Classic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC Thomas Higgins shot a career best six-under-par 65 and Jonathan Nielsen added a 68 in leading Clemson to a 10th place finish out of 20 teams at the Ka’anapali Classic at Royal Ka’anapali Country Club in Lahaina, Hawaii on Saturday.    It was the final tournament of the fall portion of the schedule for Jordan Byrd’s Tigers.Clemson finished 10th with a score of 13-under-par 839 score on the par 71 course that measures 6,700 yards.  The Tigers had team rounds of 288-276-275.  Clemson improved from 15th place after the first round to 10th in the final standings thanks to playing the final two rounds at 17 under par.Higgins 65 was the low round of the year by a Clemson golfer and the low round of his career by four shots.    Higgins round included five birdies, his second career eagle and one bogey.  The performance in the final round allowed Higgins to finish eighth (203) in the final standings, the second top 10 of the sophomore’s career.Nielsen had six bi

Clemson Improves by 12 Shots in Second Round of Ka'anapali Classic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC Thomas Higgins, Andrew Swanson and Jonathan Nielsen all had rounds in the 60s to help Clemson make a 12-shot team improvement on Friday  in the second round of the Ka’anapali Classic at Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawaii. The Tigers are in 13th place in the 20-team field with a 564 team score entering Saturday’s final round on the par 71 course that measures 6700 yards.Clemson improved from Thursday’s 288 team score to an eight under par 276 score on Friday.   It was the biggest improvement from Thursday to Friday among the 20 teams and Clemson’s 276 score was the fifth best in the second round.Swanson had six birdies and three bogeys in scoring his three-under-par 68, while Higgins had five birdies and just two bogeys in scoring his 68. He is in 44th place with a 140 total.  Higgins is in 24th place after two rounds with a 138 score, four-under-par.Nielsen’s round of two-under-par 69 on Friday, included five birdies and three bogeys.  The

Clemson Tied for 15th after First Round of Ka'anapali Classic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC Thomas Higgins and Jonathan Nielsen both had rounds of one-under-par 70 to lead Clemson in the first round of the Ka’anapali Classic at Royal  Ka’anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Hawaii.  The Tigers had a team score of four-over-par 288 on the par 71 course, tied for 17th in the 20 team field. The 54-hole tournament continues Friday and Saturday on the 6700 yard course.  The 20 teams all start at 8:30 a.m. HT with a shotgun start. Higgins had the second eagle of his career on the par five first hole, a big reason he shot four under par 33 on the front side.  His 70 was just one shot off of his career best.  It was the sophomore’s first under-par round of the year. Nielsen, Clemson’s top player with a 71.50 stroke average this year, also shot a 70 thanks to five birdies and four bogeys.  It was Nielsen’s fourth under-par round of the year.  He is coming off back-to-back top 10 finishes. Clemson Travels to Hawaii for Ninth Annual Ka'anapali Classic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC The Clemson men’s golf team will travel to Hawaii this week to compete in the ninth Ka’anapali Classic at Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawaii.  The Tigers will be one of 20 teams in the tournament that will run October 26-28 on the par 71 course that measures 67-yards.Clemson is one of three teams in the field to win this tournament in recent years. The Tigers were the 2016 champions, while Kansas won in 2021 and Oklahoma won last year.Making up the rest of the field are Air Force, Boise State, Colorado, CSUN, Denver, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Liberty, Louisiana, Mount St. Mary's, North Florida, Sacramento State, San José State, UConn, and Wyoming.The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins each day with an 8:30 a.m. (Hawaii time)  with a shotgun start .  The course was built in 1962 and is one of only two courses in Hawaii designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.Leading the Tigers will be Andrew Swanson who was the medalist at th
