Reporter this public open house at the International Bird rescue in fairfield almost didnt happen, but they decided to go through with it anyway, because they thought it was important for the public to understand the crisis theyre dealing with. The International Bird rescue center is accustomed to dealing with injured or sick birds, but what began slowly in april has suddenly become overwhelming. We were all going back and forth like is this a thing, is it not a thing. And then over the last four, five days things just kind of cratered. But when he tried to work here in gilroy, thats when detectives knew something wasnt quite right. Investigators say Jeremy Daniel griffin qtried to get work through a traveling nursing company. But as the company did his background check, his information, and nurse license number didnt match up. Its very disturbing that somebody could get that far with just using somebody elses license number. Reporter the state Consumer Affairs department was contacted. They say it was stolen identity. The hospital said they helped detective when griffin came into work his first day. He never went into patient care areas, but we started him in computer training so the investigator could come in.
