Police identify man shot and killed in Flint Township Updated May 10, 2021; Facebook Share GENESEE COUNTY, MI Police have identified the 23-year-old Flint man who died in the hospital after he was shot multiple times in Flint Township last week. Flint Township Police Department officers were dispatched at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, to the 3100 block of Hatherly Avenue for a report of unknown trouble and gunshots. A Monday, May 10 Flint Township Police Department news release identifies Cormon Brewer as the victim in the shooting. Officers located blood and shell casings in the driveway of a residence, police said. They were soon advised that Brewer, who’d suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was dropped off at McLaren Flint hospital. ....
Piercey Steps Down as MTCS High School Boys Coach Mar 10, 2021 at 12:37 pm by WGNS Coach Jason Piercey has announced his resignation as the head coach of the MTCS boys basketball team. During his 14 seasons as the leader of the basketball program, Coach Piercey’s 206 wins make him the winningest coach in school history. In 2016, heled the Cougars to their first state tournament. He also led the team to three district championships, one region championship, and two sectional appearances. While at MTCS, he was twice named district coach of the year and was named the DNJ All-Area coach of the year in 2016. ....
MTCS TSSAA Rules Violation Feb 04, 2021 at 04:38 pm by WGNS This week MTCS was made aware of a possible TSSAA rule violation due to the use of an ineligible player on its boys basketball team. Upon an immediate investigation the school came to the conclusion that the player in question was ineligible from competition this season. The school reported the violation and their planned corrective action to the TSSAA. The situation occurred due to a misapplication of a rule during the 2017-2018 school year. TSSAA rules state that use of an ineligible player constitutes forfeiture of any games in which that player participates. Therefore, the boys basketball team will forfeit all this season’s prior wins. ....
