The pop singer s abstract artwork, titled Splash Planet, went to Claire Faynor, who paid £20 for a raffle ticket. The Cancer Campaign in Suffolk (CCiS) fundraiser follows a December auction that saw Sheeran s similarly splash-painted Dab 2 sell for £40,000 in a charity benefit. Sheeran, 30, remarked in a video message for the recent raffle: The painting is one of mine, one of the big splashy ones that you saw in the Afterglow cover. I painted a canvas a day for 30 days. It was really fun. It s kind of Jackson Pollocky, Sheeran said in an earlier interview. ....
A painting by Ed Sheeran has brought in a little more than $70,000 in a raffle hosted by a local English cancer charity. Sheeran says the artwork, titled “Splash Planet,” is “kind of Jackson Pollocky.” It was created during a 30-day stretch where he was doing “a canvas a day” by “flicking… House paint” in layers. “Splash Planet” had previously been used in the cover art for his one-off “Afterglow” single. According to Britain’s NME, “a fan on the U.S. East Coast” won, and will benefit Cancer Campaign in Suffolk. ....
