Seminoles in Third Place Through Two Rounds at Valspar Collegiate Invitational

PALM CITY, Fla. – Playing in one of the nation’s most competitive tournaments, the seventh-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team held its own through the first two rounds at The Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The Seminoles enter Tuesday’s final round in third place at 10-under, eight shots back of first-place and No. 3-ranked Texas Tech.

The 16-team field at Floridian Golf Club includes 13 teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 50. Freshman Jack Bigham (-4; 68-70) and junior Brett Roberts (-4; 65-73) are each tied for 10th place and six shots back of the leader Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech (-10).

Kjettrup Has Record Performance in Win at Watersound

WATERSOUND, Fla. – Junior Frederik Kjettrup of the 11th-ranked Florida State Men’s Golf team earned an emphatic win at the Watersound Invitational, shooting a record-low 18-under par (66-67-65) for his second career collegiate victory on Tuesday afternoon at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club.

Kjettrup’s 18-under is the lowest three-round score in program history. He eclipsed a 56-year old record held by Seminole Alum Carl DiCesare, who had a 17-under at the Buckhaults Golf Tournament on March 17, 1967.

With top-ranked Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt trying to charge up the leaderboard, Kjettrup’s final-round 65 proved he wouldn’t be denied. The Denmark native won at Watersound by five strokes, carding nine birdies in his final round to put an exclamation point on a huge weekend for the All-American.

FREDERICK KJETTRUP LEADS, SEMINOLES IN THIRD AT WATERSOUND INVITATIONAL

Florida State juniors Frederick Kjettrup and Brett Roberts both fired 5-under par 67 to lead the third-place Seminoles in round two of the Watersound Invitational on Shark’s Tooth Golf Course in Panama City Beach, Fla.

FSU is 11-under heading into Tuesday’s final round.  Vanderbilt is in first place at 24-under after shooting 15-under on Monday’s second round.  Georgia Tech is in second place at 16-under.

Alabama is in fourth place two strokes behind the Seminoles and Mississippi State rounds out the top five teams at 4-under.

Kjettrup leads the tournament at 11-under after firing a 5-under 67 today after an opening round 66 yesterday.  He had six birdies during round two and his only bogey of the tournament to date was a putt that lipped out on No. 7.  He leads Georgia Tech’s Christo Lamprecht by one stroke.  FSU’s Roberts is tied for third overall at 9-under after carding a bogey-free 5-under par 68 today that included five birdies, three of ....

Noles Go Low in Final Round at Olympia Fields

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 11 Florida State Men’s Golf Team fought back in the final round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, scoring their lowest total of the three-day tournament with a 3-under par 277 to place sixth. The Seminoles led the 15-team field on day three, with only two other teams shooting under par for the day.
