he denied he had any intention of using nuclear weapons in ukraine and accused the west of trying to destroy russia. the number of crimes in england and wales that result in someone being charged is now half of what it was seven years ago. figures released today show that the proportion of crimes reported to police that result in a charge has fallen from just over 15% in march 2015 to just over 5% now. our home affairs correspondent daniel sandford is here with more details. the good news is that on the best official estimate, the number of crimes in england and wales is still lower than it was before the pandemic. but the bad news is that while we are actually reporting more crimes, fewer people are being charged with those offences by the police. here s a graph of the number of crimes reported to the police over the last seven years, rising from about 3.5 million to 5.5 million. so what has been the outcome of those crimes? well, back in 2015, just short of 600,000 of ....
